Carpentry students help rebuild roof

First Nations Regional Adult Education Center, in collaboration with Plan It, Volunteer Kahnawake and Habitat for Humanity Quebec recently installed a new roof on one of our community members homes.
To back track, FNRAEC met with Tewatohnhisaktha and MCK Housing in May 2025 to discuss our upcoming DEP in Carpentry and discussed the possibility of being able to assist our community in some minor repair projects. When the Habitat for Humanity project, in partnership with Plan It & Volunteer Kahnawake, was announced in August we naturally jumped on board immediately.

The roof project was perfect for our students as roofing is a module that had to be covered in their DEP certification program.  This project allowed our students to get out of the classroom and actually be able to work on the job.
The project was a huge success but it would not have happened without teamwork!  We would like to take this opportunity to thank our collaborators and volunteers.
