AEP Program

This Carpentry program prepares students to practice the trade of carpentry. A 24 week AEP Carpentry program mandated and funded by the Quebec Ministry. The goal of the program is to prepare students with the carpentry skills required to enter the workforce. This program upon successful completion provides students the opportunity to continue onto a DEP in the trade, if they so choose.
Graduates of this program of study will be able to perform a variety of tasks, such as constructing forms for footings, concrete walls, columns, beams and slabs; framing floors and walls; building roofs using prefabricated trusses; moving loads (ex: materials); erecting scaffolding and temporary structures; installing doors and windows; insulating building envelopes and certain components; constructing interior partitions and performing interior and exterior finishing work. To do their job, carpenters use different types of portable hand, electric and pneumatic tools, equipment, materials and products, etc.
They will also be able to apply the knowledge, know-how and interpersonal skills needed to work as part of a team, and to communicate with colleagues, superiors and, on occasion, customers, suppliers, etc.

Builders of the Future


The Builders of the Future Program is an educational initiative hosted by Tewatohnhi’saktha at the First Nations Regional Adult Education Center (FNRAEC) in Kahnawa:ke.This program offers a unique opportunity for Kahnawa’kehro:non individuals to embark on a dynamic journey into the fields of Carpentry, Electricity and Plumbing competencies. With a mission to empower and equip our community members for success, this program delivers comprehensive hands-on training, academic support and career development opportunities. Whether you aspire to enter the workforce directly or continue your education in your chosen trade, the Builders of the Future Program is your gateway to a brighter future. Our commitment to safety, excellence and community empowerment ensures that you receive not only top-notch education but also the tools and support needed to build a prosperous and fulfilling career.

Tewatohnhi’saktha, in partnership with the First Nations Regional Adult Education Center, and the New Frontiers and Lester B. Pearson School Boards, will launch the first cohort of the NEW program “Builders of the Future” in the response to the demand for certified carpenters, electricians and plumbers. This program is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Skills and Partnership Fund.
This first 6-month cohort will begin in the Fall of 2023. There will be a total of 4–6-month cohorts, with a monthly funding allowance, childcare costs and equipment/tools will be provided.
